This is ‘FUN ART not FINE ART’, but we guarantee you will surely impress yourself and others with this surprisingly simple technique for creating a beautiful pumpkin painting.

I’m hosting this Painting Party at my studio in Novi. If we get blessed with amazing fall weather, we will paint outside on the deck (so dress accordingly); otherwise we’ll take it inside. 🧡🍂RUSTIC PUMPKIN🍂🧡

The greatly anticipated Pumpkin Season is here!!! You will be amazed how easy this fun project is to make!!! Scrap wood + 5 or 6 paint colors, a few directed steps by Stacy, and BAM!💥 You’ve got yourself a RUSTIC PUMPKIN! … and beautiful fall home decor too!  (It makes a great gift also).

Register for this $15 Online LIVE Course taught by Stacy. From the comfort of your home, and a private Facebook Group called ‘The Happy Dabblers’, you will create your very own RUSTIC PUMPKIN! Can’t join us at class time— Thursday, September 28, @8 PM Eastern? No worries, you will have full access to the tutorial for the whole month of November too!

MATERIALS LIST: 🧡🍂RUSTIC PUMPKIN🍂🧡

1. Scrap Wood: (optional, but preferred) Mine is 24x10”. Anything will do, but if it leans more to the rectangle shape vs.square is preferred as well. If you are using slats like mine, you will need 1x3 pieces to connect the slats on the back. Have the assembly done before class.  

   We can make anything work—even canvas,…wood just gives this project a good vibe. 🧡

2. Paint: Acrylic Orange, Yellow, Red, Brown, Black or Burnt Umber, White

3. Brushes: One med.-large Flat Brush (1”)  One Fine Round Detail Brush

4. Rope: (opt.) the length should be roughly as wide as your wood. 

5. Lettering: (optional) The letters shown are galvanized tin from Dollar Tree. Scrabble Letters, or any wooden letters from a Craft Store will do. I used Cinnamon for the rust effect.  

6. Miscellaneous.: Chalk, Paper Towel, water jar, etc.

To all you Sunflower lovers out there! Sensational Sunflowers are the star of the show in this month's Happy Dabbler Online Paint Class. We will focus on Sunflowers, and only Sunflowers, and by the end of class…you’ll be able to paint Sunflowers!!! It’s really that Simple!!! Stacy will make sure of it!!! As always, she will break down the design and color palette to ensure Success! 🌻🌟

• Heavy Sketch Paper or Canvas: 8x10 or larger- your choice

• Brushes: Small - Medium Round, Flat, Angle

This fun summer workshop is a Hands On— Get Messy, Seasonal Project. A variety of hostas and other large leaf plants are provided to make either a concrete stepping stone or a cupped/bowl style mold, which make perfect birdbaths. Stacy will teach you each step of the process in making these beauties, so you will be able to replicate the process at home.

The workshop is held on-sight at the Pure In Heart Studio, in Novi, MI. Each Garden Art creation will need about a week to cure before taken home. Please wear ‘messy’ clothes…just in case! 

These Leaves have been very popular and class size is limited.  Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

GARDEN PEACE POSTS 7/21 6-8pm (ish)

Bring your favorite garden quote or phrase, and we’ll supply the rest! These 4’ posts are uniquely colorful and inspirational. Paint & decorate them all fancy and fun.

GARDEN PEACE POST!👏🏼🤗

I’m so looking forward to this one friends!  A few guidelines to make this go smoothly:

PICKING YOUR POST:

4”x4”  is ideal,…but you can get away with something a bit smaller….like 3”x3” from the ‘scrap pile’. Square is great, but round is fine too.  4 Feet long is ideal, but of course can be shorter if you like. 

If possible, choose ‘Pressure Treated, or Ground Contact Treated’. Obviously that will be best for longevity sake. 

POST PREP: 

If it’s super rough, give it a light sand so its safe and easy to work with. 

Drill a hole in base of post @ 2-3” deep, so that the rebar can be inserted easily. This can be done before or after painting.

For times sake, pre-paint the base coat of your post. Any type of Paint will work—-Latex, Spray Paint, Chalk, Acrylic, or a combo can be used. Use What you have right? Check oops paint at the store,- small jars of paint samples also work well. 

Color Block, Paint sections different colors,—lets make them colorful and happy! For amazing inspiration, go to Pinterest and check out ‘Peace Post, or Garden Posts’.  Pre-sketch some ideas of things/messages you’d like to incorporate onto post,…or not—lol. I’ll be putting birds and flowers and other happy things~ you can follow my lead-lol. 

Dollar Tree Tip: Inexpensive wood cutouts from Dollar Tree work great as details. In the video below, the owl, birds, hearts and birdhouse are from $Store.

For this month, we will be hand painting one-of-a-kind LIGHTBULB holiday ornaments! What better use for those used (or new!) lightbulbs then to turn them into original art!? (Or any plain ornament bulb will do!)

You will leave class with 4-5 ornaments— plenty for gift giving and to keep for yourself!

Below are an example of the materials you’ll need.:

PAINT: Blue, white, green and red are the most necessary colors….the rest are for your individual interpretation

The clear plastic ornaments , the small clamp, (optional) and even the light bulbs (if you want to do lightbulbs) can be purchased at your local Dollar Tree.

Glitter: Diamond Dust, (amazon) or Extra Fine Crystal Diamond Glitter (fancy for white) is optional, but really tops it off nicely…..and who doesn’t want to play in glitter??!!

BRUSHES: Crack out your small brushes,—you’re gonna need them, and a couple of medium sized flat and/or angle brushes.

TRAY or PLATE to catch the glitter.

Please note: This is a more intimate event  so seating is limited.

This month’s Happy Dabbler class is a bit different than past classes. We are using a limited color palette, and will be painting very loosely and impressionistically. I can’t wait for you to discover the feeling of painting so freely! A couple tips and ‘best practices’ and you’ll be hooked! 

You may want to use a mixed media sketchbook, instead of a canvas, to practice the techniques you’ll be learning during the LIVE FB private group, it’s your choice. An 8x11” or 9x12” surface, (or something in that range) will be perfect. We are keeping it on the small side this time, and we may just have time to do a couple of different landscapes!
